Training for Wet-Dry

  • 17 Jun 2017
  • 8:00 AM - 2:00 PM
  • BLM office in Deer Valley (21605 N. 7th Ave.)

Registration

This W-D training is required for all new volunteers. Note the updated schedule from 8am-2pm.

BLM policy requires employees and volunteers to receive first aid and CPR training every 3 years.  At least one member of the W/D Team should have this training.  To help us comply, the BLM is offering this training free to us, from 8am till noon on June 17.  We’ve modified our training schedule as follows:
  • 7:40am: Sign-in, breakfast coffee and snacks
  • 8:00am-12:00pm: First Aid and CPR training
  • 12:15pm: W/D Intro; Working Lunch (provided)
  • 12:45pm-2:00pm: W/D logistics; Team assignments

As many volunteers as possible should take the safety training as it will make assigning the Teams easier.

Now is a good time to acclimatize to the anticipated heat.  We suggest hikes around the neighborhood or yard work with a daypack to work up a sweat.

Agenda: Introduction to the 10th annual Wet-Dry mapping; Safety precautions; Logistics; Forms; Distribute new GPS units; Segment and Team assignment; Use of Delorme trackers; Sign-up as BLM volunteers.  You don't need to register to attend this training, but you will need to register for the actual WD event on June 24.  Contact: Tim, tjflood@att.net
